1) Winnie the pooh theme - This is one of the most popular themes for a baby shower. Everyone loves Winnie the pooh and friends and it is not surprising to see this as the top theme in our research study.

2) Jungle baby theme - A lot of people may not expect it, but a jungle theme is very popular for baby showers. This theme is great for decorating as there are many possibilities. Asides from jungle trees and vines, a wide variety of animals are often used, like giraffes, pandas, and other baby animals.

3) Baby duck theme - Baby and rubber ducks are the third most popular theme. There are many items that suit this theme including baby shower decorations, plates, cups, favors, and games. This theme is probably the easiest for baby showers since almost every baby shower supplier carries some duck themed items.

4) Baby twins theme - Twins themes are popular not only for twin baby showers, but also when baby showers are held for two mothers at once. When a mother is having twins, special attention is given to that fact. The simplest and most common way to implement this theme is to have two of everything, for example, twin items in an organza bag for baby shower favors.

5) Sports theme - Sports themes are also rising in popularity, particularly since more and more men are attending and becoming involved in baby shower planning. 8) Baby Frog theme - Baby frogs are used at some baby shower parties and came in as number eight on our study. Baby frog soap and candles make popular gifts or favors and can also be found at shops that sell wedding favors.

9) Baby dog theme - The ninth most popular theme on our list is the baby dog or puppy theme. This type of theme is not uncommon amongst animal lovers.

10) Other themes - Some other common themes include butterfly, noah's ark, cowboy, princess, diaper, safari, lamb, nursery rhyme, and Snoopy. Star is born, Looney tunes, and stork themes were not as popular as expected, but still very appropriate for a baby shower.

Also, note that not all baby showers require a common theme. Many showers will use a mix of the ideas listed above or even come up with a different theme. If a theme is selected, it is up to the host to decide what theme would be the best match for the new mother and her guests.
